NEW HAVEN POLICE ARREST SUSPECT RELATED TO SEPTEMBER SHOOTING IN CHURCH STREET SOUTH HOUSING COMPLEX
(3/19/2009) NEW HAVEN—While working an extra duty assignment Wednesday evening, in the Church Street South Housing development, Lt. Holly Wasilewski and Officer Thomas Gallagher, of the New Haven Police Department, apprehended a subject wanted for a shooting in the complex. Wasilewski and Gallagher arrested 27-year-old Pedro Arroyo for Trespass in the 1st degree, Posession of a Controlled Substance, and Interfering with a Police Officer. Arroyo, who is homeless, had outstanding warrants for Assault in the first degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit and Unlawful Discharge related to the shooting of 35-year-old Antonio Rivera on September 26th.
Church Street South Housing is a private housing facility that hires police officers several times a week to patrol the area.
